I’ve been googling around to find the problem why i can’t find my wpad host even when i already add ALIAS CNAME in DNS Server.

The answer is for security reason, the dns server put wpad and isatap into global query block list (globalqueryblocklist).

To remove wpad or isatap from global query block list simply do the following :

  • For Windows Server 2008 (issue the command below in command prompt window):
    • To remove wpad but keep isatap in block list :
      dnscmd /config /globalqueryblocklist isatap
    • To remove isatap but keep wpad in block list :
      dnscmd /config /globalquerybloclist wpad
  • For Windows Server 2003 :
    • Run Regedit
    • Find the following key :
    • Edit the value as you wish
