how to enable task manager

author : voidzzz | category : How-To, Windows, Windows 2003, Windows 2008, Windows Vista, Windows XP.

have you ever got this error message : Task Manager is disabled. Please contact your System Administrator. In this case (if you’re not the one who’s disabling task manager) then your system most likely has been infected by virus. I’ll show you how to enable your task manager back.

I’ll show you two way to enable your task manager manually :

  1. With Group Policy
    1. Launch Group Policy Management console : Start > Run > type gpedit.msc > enter/return
    2. Go to User configuration > Administrative Templates > System > click on Ctrl+Alt+Del Options
    3. Look in the right pane there should be “Remove task manager”. Double click it and change the value (by clicking) to DISABLED
  2. With Regedit
    1. Launch Regedit : Start > Run > type regedit > enter/return
    2. Find this key : HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
    3. Double click DisableTaskMgr and change the value to 0 (if you can’t find it, create a new DWORD key named DisableTaskMgr)
